For centuries, the villagers of Sri Lanka have used terracotta to make cooking pots, water carriers and sacred ceremonial vessels. When British designer Maham Anjum saw the beautiful pots of Sri Lanka, she enlisted some talented local potters to help create a range of terracotta serveware for Jme. Matti is made in Sri Lanka by a local family-run workshop whose projects support traditional village potters in the area. Each piece is hand-finished so it has its own unique character and variations. The insides of these bowls are glazed and the outsides are left in their natural terracotta state.
