From curries and sweets to rope and roof tiles, the nuts, leaves and wood of the Sri Lankan coconut palm are used for just about everything. First, the nuts are plucked from the treetops by highly skilled coconut pickers. Then the empty shells are shaped and polished to make the spoons in this bag, while the palm’s trunk lends its hard, durable wood for the handles. Carved by hand, each spoon has its own unique shape and size, and over time they’ll pick up lovely signs of use. Use the colander spoon for lifting dumplings or veg from a boiling pot, the large and small ladles for curries and stews, and the servers for salad, rice and pasta.
