Jamie’s latest group of apprentices from his Fifteen restaurant in London are taking on a challenge to design, cook and sell their own foodie products at Borough Market and make the most money for charity.

The group will be split into two teams for this “The Apprentice” style challenge and each team given £200 and three days to complete the task. The teams will be made up of Fifteen apprentices as well as five from Lexington’s chef apprentice scheme, which has kindly offered to host the cooking in their kitchens.

Each team has been given a stall at Borough Market in Southwark to sell their products on Thursday 14th March. Everyone is invited to come down and support the teams and of course snap up their foodie ideas!

Any profits will be donated to charity and the whole event coincides with National Apprenticeship Week 2013, to promote the role and benefits of UK businesses taking on trainees.

Jamie established his first Fifteen restaurant in Westland Place, London, in 2002 to provide training for fifteen apprentices, many of whom were struggling to find a path into work and were getting into trouble.

It has proved to be an amazing success story with many of the graduates going on to do incredible things in the cooking profession. There is now a Fifteen restaurant in Amsterdam and Cornwall as well as the original one.

Jamie said: “I’m so proud of the success of Fifteen and the team working away to give these apprentices opportunities within the profession. So why not come down to Borough on the 14th and support them in their challenge.”
