The Jamie Oliver Foundation charity has now officially changed its name to the Better Food Foundation and is getting ready for a busy end to 2012 and a hugely exciting 2013.

The Better Food Foundation will continue the important work in food education but the vision of the charity will be to join up with like-minded charities, celebrities, experts and individuals across the world to create and nurture a truly global food movement at a time when the world faces a unique crisis – never before have more people been dying as a result of over-eating than through lack of food and rising obesity continues to affect the health of hundreds of millions.

The core projects for the Better Food Foundation are the Fifteen Apprenticeship programme (which celebrates its 10 year anniversary this year); the six Ministry of Food Centres across the UK, teaching communites to cook in Rotherham, Bradford, Leeds, Newcastle, Alnwick and East London, and the Kitchen Garden Project in UK schools.

The Fifteen Apprentice Programme (in London, Cornwall and Amsterdam) has trained around 300 young people to become chefs and 80 per cent of the graduates are still working in the catering industry, many in senior positions in some of the best restaurant kitchens in the world.

Since launching in 2008, the various Ministry of Food Centres have helped many thousands of people in local communities to learn to cook.

Check out the good work these projects do.

The Better Food Foundation will soon begin work on the next Food Revolution Day to be held in spring 2013.

Despite the name change, the registered charity number (1094536) remains the same.
