Story by Camilla Cameron

Monday, 30th November, saw the launch of Jamie's 2nd Ministry of Food Centre – this time in Bradford.

Funded by both Regional Government grants from Local Government Yorkshire & Humber, Bradford Council and the local NHS, the Superb new Centre at 29 John Street is sited next door to the Oastler Centre, bang in the middle of the city.

Fantastically set out and equipped, the Centre will offer hands-on lessons in how to cook simple, nutritious and delicious Jamie recipes. Jamie has carefully designed the Ministry of Food course to take learners from simple egg recipes through to producing a stunning roast dinner for their friends and family – with a wealth of mouthwatering, wallet-friendly choices inbetween! The classes are led by the Centre's Project Manager, Soraya Overend, and her wonderful team and the Centre is open from 9.30-4.30pm Monday to Friday, with evening classes on Tuesday and a children's club on Saturday mornings.

The official opening of the Ministry Centre was a great event, as you can see below. The all-important task of cutting the ribbon fell to Kris Hopkins, Leader of Bradford City Council who has been active supporter of the Ministry of Food campaign since Jamie first invited him to see the Rotherham centre in action. He is delighted to see the Centre open in the city: “It's great to see this project coming to fruition because it has been a pipe dream for a while”¦I am looking forward to people in Bradford using this resource to make a real positive change in their lives.”

Phew! Launch over, Soraya Overend, Project Manager of Jamie's Ministry of Food, Bradford, shares a well-earned cup of tea with Lisa Taylor, Project Manager of Rotherham Ministry.
