jamie's italian westfield

Thu 05 Aug 2010 @ 09:04 | story by Danny McCubbin

Last week I enjoyed a fantastic dinner with a friend at the new Jamie's Italian at Westfield shopping center in West London. I am a lucky lad to claim this restaurant as my local - it is just a 10 minute car journey from my house. I loved the vintage ice cream van parked right outside the restaurant. Sarah Stephenson from Jamie's Italian says, "The first thing that will really grab diners' attention is a 'Jamie's ice-cream' van parked directly outside the restaurant, serving as a stylish beacon for the brand and offering passers-by great ice-creams in the form of 'Smash-Ups', served on a plate with fruit and nuts all mixed in."

The new restaurant has been designed by Blacksheep, one of London's most creative interiors agencies and the team behind top London nightspots including The Cuckoo Club and Whisky Mist. The site features a fun L-shaped outdoor area suitable for al fresco dining all year round. The windows opening onto the terrace made the restaurant feel light and spacious. In one section of the restaurant there are planters full to the brim of live herbs that release wonderful aromas of rosemary and basil. Special design features include a 'Vespa Wall', made up of 79 individual Vespa headlights; a 'Marketplace' section with fresh pasta machines, an open kitchen, lots of great products to buy and a special 'back room' that is more intimate and has a touch of bling.

The food was as delicious as ever, the staff friendly and attentive. If you are happened to be shopping at Westfield then a trip to the new Jamie's Italian is well worth it.

1. Susie Mon 12 Dec 2011 @ 22:38 I am very disappointed with the food we were served at Jamie's kitchen this evening. I'm sure Jamie wouldn't have approved. It was so tasteless that I had to have a full pot of chili sauce to make it taste of anything. When I complained they did the right thing and removed it from the bill but said mine must have been a freak dish. Its a shame that with such a mass market offering Jamie's reputation could be cheapened if the standard is not improved. I'm a big fan of Jamie Oliver so I hope his chefs dont let him down. My friends food was also disappointing. Such a shame, should be so much better.
2. Perpetua Harry Mon 14 Nov 2011 @ 18:38 Hi Jamie, my hubby and I went to your restaurant last Saturday (12/11/11)....food was simple and really good...the only complain was - my hubby ordered Squid Ink Spagetti with few thinly sliced scallop ...it was JUST luke-warm not hot.. however your staff apologized when she saw my hubby didn't finish it and she asked what was wrong with it .... and she also asked whether we would like to change but hubby said it's okay...and your floor manager didn't charge us on that particular dish....overall we really enjoy our dinner that evening and definitely will recommend friends and family to your restaurant, Jamie's Italian ;-)
3. Roger Knight Sun 23 Oct 2011 @ 15:34 We visited the Jamie Oliver restaurant in Westfield on Saturday 22nd October. We were very disappointed as we had a long wait with our children. While we were waiting in the bar area for a table we noticed that several tables of two were seated before us even though there were table free.

The food was very good but the portions were small . The service was poor and the children's meals came last! We would have ordered deserts and coffee but were worried about the time. Do not think we will be visiting again!!
4. Dan Stock Mon 17 Oct 2011 @ 09:59 Nice building and layout, stands out from the many other restaurants that are in Westfields food court. Service was the so so poor, Major training needed. We managed to get a drink after walking to the bar and carring them back to out table. after 35 minutes of being invisable to the staff we left a tenner on the table and walked out..

Shame,
5. Christopher bec Wed 17 Nov 2010 @ 12:16 Very dissapointing sat next to noisy station in front of cold door with a wobbling table food tastes mediocre very high price and small portion £12.00 (prawn linguine) Far too busy to be good Staff like headless chickens at times running around everywhere

7. Teresa Fri 20 Aug 2010 @ 16:07 Jamie's Italian is the best restaurant i have ever been to. I am of Italian background and traveled through out Italy for 3 weeks and never had pasta like i did at Jamie's Italian. Homemade fresh pasta to die for. Leave enough room to eat Tiramisu. Don't miss out on the Tiramisu. It's amazing. The service was fantastic. A big thank you to Thomas. I was there the week this fabulous restaurant opened and was lucky enough to meet Gennaro. Hope you open Jamie 's Italian in Melbourne. I had the most fabulous time there on my recent trip to London. Wish i lived in London i would eat there all the time.
8. Emma mcRedmond Tue 17 Aug 2010 @ 18:11 Unfortunately my experience at this restaurant was quite the opposite. The service was very surprisingly terrible, probably the worst I’ve ever come across to be honest (and I realize what a bold statement that is but it is true). We actually ended up paying up and leaving after the starter as we had been there for an hour and forty five minutes at this stage without receiving a valid explanation or apology for the delay. Considering that this was mid afternoon on a Saturday and they did not have a full house we thought this was unacceptable. Very disappointed :-(
