jamie stays at holdsworth house

Tue 01 Nov 2011 @ 17:34 | story by Danny McCubbin

One of the locations used in the filming of ‘Jamie’s Great Britain’ was the family-owned, Bronte Country hotel Holdsworth House. This absolute gem of a hotel is nestled quietly in decorative gardens and tucked away on the urban fringe of Halifax, West Yorkshire. With original features aplenty, the stunning façade and innumerate twists and turns are a reminder of the 400 years of history, which ooze from the walls. It’s rare for hotels to remain under one ownership for so long, but we think its testament to the care and love bestowed on the 39 bedroom, Jacobean manor by owners and sisters Gail Moss and Kim Wynn whose family have owned the property since the ‘60s. Gail remembers many famous guests who have graced the hallways including The Beatles and Jayne Mansfield, and most of course most recently Jamie Oliver and his film crew.

Wonderfully comfortable and offering some of the finest food and service in the county, Holdsworth House is perfectly positioned for exploring nearby Haworth, the world-famous Bronte Parsonage and the varied Yorkshire landscape. The hotel provides gourmet dining in its 2AA Rosette Restaurant, useful free wifi, bags of free parking and has locally brewed organic ale on tap. With overnight Bronte Breaks including Yorkshire breakfast available at £50 per person, Holdsworth House is affordable luxury at its best. We defy anyone not to fall in love with it.

Our friends at Holdsworth House are running a competition where you can win a two-night luxury break.
