The Job

The main purpose of this role will be to lead a group of food lovers in cookery lessons in a Recipease store. You will be responsible for teaching and inspiring customers of all levels in lessons on how to create Jamie Oliver inspired recipes. Your key responsibilities will be to set up, lead and then clear down each lesson, provide an excellent customer experience and to champion product quality. As well as facilitating each lesson professionally you’ll also be responsible for training the rest of the store team in the preparation of the Recipease menu you’ll have responsibility for monitoring and controlling all costs in the kitchen. You’ll work closely with the Store Manager to ensure that the customers have a great experience and that they’re made aware of all the other products in store that they could benefit from.



The Person

You’ll already have proven experience in the food industry, not only with food but also in managing a kitchen. You’ll be a great communicator and have the ability to learn the Jamie Oliver style of cooking and then pass it on to others. You’ll be able to engage both staff and customers during all types of training lessons in a fun, motivational way and pass on to them exceptional product knowledge while encouraging them to attend further session in the future. It goes without saying that you’ll be passionate about all great ingredients and all types of food to be successful in this role. Added to that you’ll need to be aware of current issues surrounding food and have a good understanding of Jamie’s story and motivation.



The Detail

This job will require lots of active thought and the use of initiative. You’ll:

  • Provide excellent customer service acting with honesty and integrity throughout each lesson, tailoring your delivery to the group you’re working with.
  • Inspire and motivate your customers to cook at home using the skills learnt in the lessons, ideally utilising the products that are sold in store and encourage them to attend further sessions in the future.
  • Provide exceptional product knowledge during the lesson, ensuring that the cultural values of the brand are being promoted at all times.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships within your store, ensuring that the whole team are supported with excellent guidance and motivation about all food products and recipes.
  • Be responsible for creating a customer-first attitude throughout each lesson, remaining calm under pressure. You’ll maintain time keeping during the lesson so that all customers finish at the same time while motivating and easing the customers though the dishes. You’ll also be keenly aware of differing levels of ability in each group and will modify your approach to deal with that.
  • Be responsible for attending all training courses on how to run the lessons and then for the ongoing development of those courses in store through structured training plans.
  • Accurately report on your activities and actively seek customer feedback to monitor the lessons so that you can adapt your classes best to meet the needs of the market.
  • Ensure that all lessons are set up both with the correct equipment and ingredients needed to complete the class and ensure that the area is clean at the end of each session and ready for the next.
  • Be responsible for running and maintaining Recipease standards in the kitchen, controlling ordering, training and costs.
  • Be familiar with all relevant trading, hygiene, health, safety and employment laws and regulations and ensure that these are always enforced and ensuring the safety of all customers as well as the staff and premises during the lesson.

As a Store Lesson Trainer you will typically be responsible for ensuring that all lessons are run professionally



Decision Making

You will have input into the lesson calendar in your store working closely with the Head of Food Development and Training and the Store manager. You will be expected to consult with the Store Manager on all decisions related to the lessons.
