Ingredients
4 big green apples
3-4 slices of bread
A good amount of raisins
A good amount of fried hazelnuts
2 whole eggs
2 egg yolks
1 cup milk
1 cup liquid whipcream
50 g melted, unsalted butter
100 g sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
Separate Ingredients for the Vanilla Filling:
2 yolks
50 g sugar
1 cup of milk
1 teaspoon of vanilla concentrate
2 teaspoons congnac
Method
First, unpeel all 4 apples and cut them up in small squares. Cut the bread in small squares, as well. Mix all of your small bread squares together with the apple squares, the unmelted butter and the raisins. Beat the (2) whole eggs together with the (2) egg yolks and, then, add - in this order - the milk, vanilla and liquid whipcream. Next, in a baking pan/tray, add the bread and apples mixture , pour the egg and milk sauce your prepared earlier over the bread and apples mixture. Also, add the hazelnuts and a little bit of sugar. Wait a minute, until the bread and apples mixture soaks well in the sauce. Then, bake the whole thing for 45 minutes at approximately 190C. *FOR THE VANILLA FILLING*: Warm up the milk and vanilla concentrate together. Beat /Mix 2 yolks together with sugar. When the milk starts boiling, star pouring it little by little over the eggs, while continuously mixing, then turn the down the heat (to low) or simmer. Once done, take it off the heat and let it cool down. Add cognac for more flavor. Only thing left now is to combine and enjoy the wonderful apple and vanilla flavors in your newly made cake!
