  • 3-4 apples, peeled, pips removed, cut in wedges
  • 7 dried apricots, chopped
  • 1 shallot, chopped
  • 50 ml apple cider vinegar
  • 50 ml brown granulated sugar (if you use a kind of apple that is sour, you might need some more sugar)
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • a pinch of salt
  • nigella seeds
1. Mix the apple cider vinegar, the sugar, honey and salt in a sauce pan. Bring it to a boil.

2. Add the apples, the apricots and the shallot.

3. Let it simmer until it thickens. This might take a while, perhaps 45 minutes. Taste the chutney, you might want to add some salt or sugar. In the end, add the nigella seeds.

4. Serve with cheese and crackers.

This chutney goes very well with cheese and crackers... Lovely with Brie cheese, goats cheese or any hard cheese, mild or strong. Makes 1 small jar.

Method
