Heat the ghee in a saucepan and add the mustard seeds, cover with a lid until the seeds pop, them add the rice.
Add the turmeric powder and fry the rice for about 10 minutes, stirring always.
Add the salt.
Put water that cover the rice for about 2 fingers.
Cook for about 30 minutes, add more water, one cup and cook for more 10 minutes.
Decorate with basil leaves and serve with dhal and savories.
