BBQ Portobello Mushroom Burgers

These BBQ Portobello Mushrooms will melt in your mouth, and even the die-hard meat burger lovers in your family will want more of these :)

Ingredients
1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
Freshly ground black pepper & salt to taste
6 Large portobello mushrooms; (about 5 inches) removed stems & trimmed
Thin Multigrain round buns
Low fat Montery Jack Cheese

Garnish Suggestions:
Home-made relish (if possible :)
Sautéed onions
Ketchup

Method
Prepare barbecue for grilling. Mix vinegar, oil, garlic, salt & pepper.

Clean the Portobello mushroom caps (remove the stems). I like to marinade them for 20 minutes in a shallow dish. Set on grill. Grill the mushrooms until tender (about 10 minutes per side). Just before removing from grill, add slices of Montery Jack cheese on each mushroom. Serve on Thin Multigrain round buns, add home-made relish (if possible... it\'s sweater), Ketchup and other condiments as you wish such as mustard or sautéed onions. Enjoy!

I love a beef burger, and I'm not a fan of mushrooms, but I am switching to these from now on! I love the texture and flavor so much more and it is much easier to make! I didn't have all the ingredients so I just made marinade from my balsamic vinaigrette and spicy brown mustard. I used cheddar cheese on my burger instead of montery jack, and I also dipped some of my burger in my homemade blue cheese dressing, it was yummy with and without the blue cheese. I used my regular hamburger buns which are larger sized whole wheat kaiser rolls. This recipe is definitely worth a try, even if you are a beef-lover and not a mushroom-lover :)
