5 oz Butter
5 oz Caster Sugar
5 oz Self Raising Flour
Vanilla Essence
Milk
2 Eggs (good quality)

Cream the butter & sugar together
Add 2 lightly beaten eggs and mix in
Add 1-2 teaspoons of vanilla essence
Sift in half the flour first and mix well
Sift in the remaining flour.
Add 1-2 tablespoons of milk

Once the mixture is complete divide into cake cases and pop in the oven on about 180C = 350F = Gas mark 4 until golden brown. Allow to cool on a cake rack. Decorate and enjoy.

Here is a lovely basic cake mix which has served me proud over the years. Simply change the decorations on top to create seasonal variations.
