  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 ½ pounds caribou meat
  • 1 large chopped onion
  • 2 stalks chopped celery
  • ½ cup chopped turnip
  • 2 small chopped carrots
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 can tomato or cream of mushroom soup
  • 2 tbsp flour or cornstarch
  • ½ cup cold water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Cut meat into small chunks – pour oil into pot and cook meat over medium high heat for ten minutes – stir from time to time – add more oil if needed Add onions and cook until golden brown – add water, carrot, turnip, celery, potato and soup – stir well Bring to boil – simmer for two hours – add more water if necessary Add cornflour to water and mix well – add slowly to stew – mixing well – season and serve
