Crisp Butty

Gourmet crisp butties, a recipe my hair salon colleague Kay Guise, shared with me 35 years ago.

Ingredients
1 pt salt & vinegar crisps
1 pt cheese & onion crisps (or sour cream & onion for gourmet)
2 pt smokey bacon crisps (omit if vegetarian)
1 pt pickled onion crisps
1 pt prawn cocktail crisps (great for pescetarians)
Buttered Bread

Method
layer crisps on sliced bread (crisps could be crumbled so you dont cut the roof of your mouth when biting down)

Cut into triangles if entertaining

Any excess crisps can be used to decorate serving plate

BRILLIANT, I USED TO TAKE CRISP BUTTIES TO WORK FOR MY BREAK, NOT WITH SO MANY FLAVOURS THOUGH, STILL THEY WERE GREAT. EVEN TODAY I STILL SNEAK A CRISP BUTTIE, ALTHOUGH MOST PEOPLE HERE THINK IT'S REALLY WIERD, THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE MISSING.

Looked like an interesting recipe, so I attempted this for a dinner party last weekend. Had a few problems following the instructions (the only pickled onion crisps I could find were labelled 'space raiders' and the alien faces show through the bread when it is compressed) but I eventually managed to complete the dish. I used triangles as suggested. My guests seemed to be a little confused with this dish, however nothing was left on the plates so I can assume that it was well enjoyed. Thanks!

British salty bread better for this dish - a great compliment...

http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2011/sep/02/loaves-bread-salt-packet-crisps
