Fihunumas ( chilli roasted fish)

Ingredients
tuna steaks(2) or small red snapper , 2 tsp chilli powder, 1/2 tsp black pepper powder, 4 big garlic cloves grated, 1 small onion grated, 1 sprig curry leaf, about 2 tsps salt, juice of 2 limes, 3 red chillies or 1/2 scotch bonnet

Method
1. Clean fish, if you have red snapper, leave the skin on, clean and make a few slashes across the skin. Rub with a little salt and pat dry .
2. Make chilli paste, in a motor or pestle or using a good grinder, grind the spices along with the chillies, garlic and curry leaves. Add the lime juice and salt once you get a smooth paste.
3. Rub the paste all over the fish, making sure you rub on the crevices.
4. oil a baking tray, use lots of oil so it wont stick on it. Bake in a preheated oven about 200 degree centigrade for about 20-30 minutes

OR
You can put it in a bbq over hot coals and barbeque it.
If you are using a whole snapper you might need more chilli paste.
serve with plain rice, some mild curry . and a green salad

Note: You can try with any fish, pomfret, even salmon steaks but in maldives red snapper , grouper or tuna steaks are the most popular for this dish. ENjoy!!!
