No need to use expensive steaks like fillet or rump , the cheaper steaks work better as they have more flavour serves 2
Ingredients
2 beef steaks such as braising or frying steak
2 large onions roughly chopped
3/4 pint beef stock
2 cloves of garlic
olive oil
butter
2 corn on the cobs
green beans topped and tailed
Method
pre heat the oven to 170 degrees
season your steaks with plenty of salt and pepper
Get yourself a high sided roasting tin and scatter half the onions over the bottom of it
Lay the raw steaks ontop and cover with the remaining onions.
pour over the stock,cover with foil and place in the oven for at least 4 hrs or until the meat is falling apart
remove the foil and turn the oven up to 200 degrees until the onion and stock sauce has reduced and thickened and the meat has coloured
replace the foil and keep warm
place your beans in a pan of salted boiling water and boil for 5 mins, in the meantime mince your garlic
drain the beans and return to the pan on a medium heat
add the garlic and a glug of olive and salt and pepper and lightly fry for 3 mins. remove from the heat and keep warm
Place your corn on the cob into boiling water and boil for 7 min , drain , return to the pan and add two small knobs of butter , cover the pan until the butter melts and then toss the corn on the cobs in it
serve with fresh crusty bread to mop up the juices
