These juicy, asian-style dumplings are easy to make and go wonderfully with a cold cucumber salad.
Ingredients
1/2 lb• Ground Pork
2 Tb• Soy Sauce
3 Tb• Sesame Seeds
Salt and Pepper to taste
1 Package Square or Round Dumpling Skins (can be found at most grocery stores)
8 Green Onions
8 Small mushrooms of your choice
1 small red onion
4 Tb• Sesame Oil
1 Egg
1 Small Cucumber
Method
Combine ground pork, soy sauce, 2 Tb. sesame seeds, salt, pepper, chopped green onions, minced mushrooms, chopped red onion, 2 Tb. sesame oil, and egg in a large bowl. Mix thoroughly.
To make dumplings, take one shell and wet the edges on one side. Put a small amount of pork filling inside, and fold the skin in half, enveloping the filling inside. Pinch together with fingers. Fill the rest of the dumpling skins. Any extra filling can also be formed into a small patty and cooked with the dumplings.
Put a few raw dumplings in a hot nonstick pan with a 1 Tb. sesame oil. Keep heat on medium-high. Cook 5-6 minutes per side, or until the skin is golden and crisp. Remove from pan.
Garnish with sesame seeds or green onion. Extra soy sauce with a bit of oil can be served on the side as a sauce.
Serve hot over or beside a cold cucumber salad, made by finely chopping a cold cucumber, and dressing it with a bit of soy sauce, sesame seeds, and sesame oil. Enjoy!
