  • For the Dough
  • 1 cup of Tipo "0000" Flour
  • 2 tbs melted lard
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 tbs of salt
  • For the Filling
  • 300 grs of knife cut meat (roast beef)
  • 1 onion
  • 2 spring onions
  • 1 garlic
  • 1 chilli
  • 2 cubed tomatoes
  • 1 cup of stock (broth)
  • 1 cup of tomato sauce
  • 2 boiled eggs
  • 1 boiled potato
  • 1 tbs of melted lard
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Ground pepper
  • Black pepper
  • Paprika
  • Cumin
  • For the Spicy Dressing
  • 2 Spring onions
  • 1 Chilli
  • Half a cup of Olive Oil
  • Paprika
  • Red ground pepper
In a bowl mix the flour, the melted lard, salt and pour in the water and begin to mix it using your fingers. If it's necessary add more water. Take the dough to a flat surface and begin to knead till it's smooth. Now, leave it rest for 30 minutes covered with a towel.
Heat the lard in a large frying pan. Add chopped garlic and chilli, chopped onion, chopped red bell pepper and the spring onions. Next, add the cubed tomato, the roast beef, the broth and the tomato sauce.
Season it using a teaspoon of salt, pepper, ground pepper, paprika and cumin.
Once it's ready, take it to the fridge and let it cool for a couple of yours. This will make the juices get solid so when we fill the Empanadas the dough will not get wet and break, but , afterwards, when we fry them all the juices will melt again making our Empanadas super delicious!
While our filling cools down we continue with our super spicy dressing to top our Empanadas. Heat up the olive oil in a pan, add the spring onions and chopped chilli. Season it with salt, a tablespoon of paprika and another one of red ground pepper.
Now, take the dough, sprinkle some flour on it and roll it very thin. Then cut it in round discs using a cookie cutter or a bowl.
Place the round discs of dough in your hand, pour in a tablespoon of the filling, seal it carefully by water the edges and folding them one side over the other one and crump the edges so none of the filling can spill out.
Take the Empanadas to the boiling oil and fry them till they become golden and crispy. Or, if you prefer, you can also take them to the oven and bake them!
Top them with our spicy dressing and enjoy!

For making this video we went to a farm to show you not only one of the typical meals from our country but also the typical view of Argentina's countryside. This is my version of the super popular Argentinian Empanadas!
These are made all around my country and each province has its own way of preparing them and its own ingredients. You can find meat Empanadas with olives, raisins, sugar, all kind of fillings and flavours! They are absolutely great, you must try them!
In this recipe I included a super spicy dressing to make your Empanadas even juicier and supreme.
Hope you enjoy them as much as we do!!!
