Ingredients

Ingredients
Method

  • 1 12.8 oz box of Cheerios
  • 1 box of Rice Chex cereal
  • 1 lb. bag of pretzel sticks
  • 1 lb. pecan halves (or mixed nuts)
  • 1/2 cup magarin
  • 1/2 cup of bacon drippings
  • 1 Tbsp.garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp. seasoned salt
  • 1 Tbsp. Tabasco sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
In a large roasting pan, layer 1/2 the box of Cheerios, 1/2 the box of Rice Chex, 1/3 the bag of pretzels, and 1/2 pound of the pecans. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients (you'll have some pretzels left). Melt the margarine and bacon drippings over low heat in a saucepan, then add the seasonings - be sure not to overcook them! Pour the liquid mixture over the cereal/pretzel mixture, then gently stir. Place in a 350 degree oven for 20-25 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes. Makes about 10 pints. Enjoy!
Cool for at least 30 minutes before storing in plastic bag(s).

This is my amended version of Ladybird Johnson's recipe...
Yummy any time of year, but especially in the winter months.
My kids teachers love receiving a bag of this at Christmas : )
p.s. It'll take cooking at least 1 lb. of bacon to get the grease/drippings you'll need!
