This bread makes 2, 10\" loave tins. It has a nice soft inside and soft crust. I would say this bread is the same as the slice one you get at the market. Toast it up and smother it in butter and jam.
Ingredients
1 cup milk
1 cup hot water
1 tbsp lard
1 tbsp butter
2 tbsp sugar
2 1/2 tsp salt
1 cake yeast (0.6 oz)
1/4 cup warm water
6cups flour
Method
Scald:1 cup milk
Add:
1 cup hot water
Pour these ingredients over:
1tbsp lard
1 tbsp butter
2 tbsp sugar
2 1/2 tsp salt
In a seperate bowl disolve:
1 cake yeast (0.6 oz)
in:
1/4 cup warm water
When the first mixture is lukewarm, combine it with the disolved yeast.
Sift before measuring:
6cups flour
Stir in slowly 3 cupfuls of the flour. Beat the batter for 1 minute and then add the rest of the flour. Knead it well on a floured surface.
Leave to rise in a warm place, until double in size or 1 hour.
Nouw punch it out again and kned it for awhle. Let it rise again for 1 1/2 hours.
Now shape the dough into loaves and place them in the tin, leave to rise for 30 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 450. Put loaves in the oven for 10 minutes and reduce heat to 350. Bkade for about 40 minutes.
