beef with tomato sauce

Traditional meat recipe

Ingredients
4 serves
1 kgr beef meat
1 big onion peeled and chopped
2 cloves garlic
3-4 pepper seeds
2 carnation seeds
rosemary
1 tea spoon tomato puree(canned)
1/2 tea spoon sugar and thyme
1 tea spoon salt
2 big tomatoes pealed and chopped
1 glass olive oil

Method
Wash the meat and put in in a kettle with water.Boil it for 10 minutes and throw the water.
Add in the steamer onion and olive oil.Do not close the steamer.
place the meat in the steamer and cook it till get a brownish color.Add the chopped tomato and the puree.Mix them well and add all the rest ingredients.
In the end add 3 glasses of water and close well the steamer. Cook the food for 40 minutes and then open the steamer. The sauce must now be dense and creamy. If the meat hasnt cooked yet add water and cook it for 20 minutes.
This is the traditional recipe ,but if you want to make it more\"spicy\" marinade the meat for 6 hours in 2 glasses of red wine ,olive oil, salt and herbs. Then follow the same method but keep the liquid from the marinade aside. You can add this liquid instead of water(or as part of the water you need to cook this food). Then follow the steps referred above.
Serve it with rice or fried potatoes....

Hi Runneralps, Could you give me another name for carnation seeds? I like the sound of this, and it sounds like it could go on my list of things to try.
Thanks in advance.
