The Clover Club Cocktail is one of those classics that should live on in every mixologist\\\'s repertoire. According to The Old Waldorf-Astoria Bar Book the drink was first created at the bar of the Bellevue-Stratford in Philadelphia, a popular hang out for \\\"literary, legal, financial and business lights of the Quaker City\\\" of the 1800\\\'s. Today grenadine is often used in place of the raspberry syrup, but I have to agree with Gary Regan in The Joy of Mixology when he advocates the use of raspberry syrup because \\\"without it this drink isn\\\'t much to talk about.\\\"
Ingredients
•2 oz gin
•juice of 1/2 lemon
•1/4 oz raspberry syrup
•1 egg white
•1 tsp sugar
Method
1.Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
2.Shake vigorously (more than normal to properly mix the egg and sugar).
3.Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
