out of this world earth burgers

This is a refreshing, earthy, twist on the tired, time-worn, hamburger, available on almost every street-corner these days. The sprouts should be generously applied, for they seem to be the heart and soul of this scrumptious concoction.

Ingredients
Large, whole wheat, hamburger buns
Lean ground beef/sirloin
Swiss, or jack-cheese slices
Fresh alfalfa sprouts
Mushroom slices
Avocado slices
Olive oil
Mayonaise
Salt and pepper

Method

Salt and pepper some large patties, making sure they are not too thick.

On an extremely hot, cast-iron pan, throw down patties.

Be sure to use a sturdy spatula so you can thoroughly scrape off residues while flipping meat.

Sear the meat, but don\'t burn it..

...it will take a brief scorching to bring out the flavor.....the meat should remain moist within the patty.

Remove patties and reduce heat to low.

Splash on some quality olive oil and lightly toast buns.

Place cheese on meat and warm in toaster/microwave oven.
Do not cook it, but simply melt cheese.

Drizzle olive oil on the sprouts, using a table-spoonful for each burger.

Place mushrooms, avocado, mayonaise and ample sprouts on top bun.
Spread more mayonaise, if desired, on bottom bun.
Add patty to bottom and marry both halves.
I now pronounce you burger and sprouts.

Wrap in serving tissue, in the style of the all-American burger.
As the bible-belters might say, prepare for the rapture......
