A VISIT TO RIVER COTTAGE


The apprentices journeyed to Axminster in Devon to pay a visit to Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's River Cottage.  Here they spent the day learning about bread making including the science behind yeast, how to make starter doughs and the principles of kneading and proving.  There was ample opportunity to put what they had learnt into practice as they got the chance to make sourdough, wheatgerm bread, hot cross buns and pizzas.
