Towards the end of their course, our apprentices are encouraged to give back to the community by taking part in an Outreach activity that is personal to them.  While some chose to talk at their old schools, or run workshops with residents from their housing offices, apprentice Andy Kabeya decided to make the difficult trip to HMP Brinsford, where he had served a sentence before the course.

Having spent five years in and out of prison, Andy was keen to speak to the inmates about his experiences on the course and encourage them to follow in his footsteps and turn  their lives around.  Andy was joined by Class of 2012 graduate Tyrone King, also an ex-offender.

The day proved emotional for Andy, who was able to see how he had changed since being release.  "I felt really humbled and grateful.  It made me see how far I've come, from the life I was living to where I am now.  Everything has completely changed and I feel like a new person.  I am so thankful to those who helped me get here."
