APPRENTICE VISIT TO RICE AND THINGS

The apprentices recently took a trip to Jamaican restaurant Rice and Things in Bristol, established by the inspirational Branatic Neufville, aka "Chef".  The restaurant's outstanding food (made using traditional techniques handed down from Chef's gradmother back in Jamaica) caught the attention of Jamie Oliver in 2011 and featured in Jamie's Great Britian cookbook and TV series.  Although the dishes - including saltfish, ackee, curried goat and oxtail stew - impressed the apprentices, it was Chef's story of how he got to where he is from very humble beginnings in Jamaica that really left a lasting impact.
