THE GRADUATES' MONTHLY REUNION AT MELANGE CHOCOLATE SHOP
Following the success of last year's graduate reunion at Melange Chocolate shop and cafe in Peckham Rye, we knew it wouldn't be long before our graduates asked us to arrange another visit! Without the need for much convincing, a chocolate-making masterclass was promptly arranged for 15 January.
On arrival, the group was greeted by the cafe's lovely owner Isabelle, an artisan chocolatier from France, who won them over with scrumptious mugs of hot chocolate before putting them to work. During the three-hour workshop, the graduates learnt to temper, mould and flavour their own chocolates, and were given an overview of the history of chocolate making. Melange is known for its unusual flavoured chocolate. Isabelle encouraged the group to get creative and experiment with different flavours including lavender, cardamom, chilli, cumin, ginger and wasabi. By the end, each graduate had made 30 or so chocolates unique in shape, decoration and taste.
