Please note, the RMT union have announced proposed strikes for 23, 29, 30, 31 August 2015 over the weekend of The Big Feastival. During their last strike in July they were able to run around 60% of normal services across the network and a near-normal service in the London and Thames Valley area – they expect to be able to deliver the same level of service this time around. We hope that train travel to The Big Feastival will remain as minimally impacted as possible but will update you with any further news accordingly.
There are other alternative travel routes listed below on our website including a great car share scheme for those who are either looking to hitch a lift, or who have space in their car to offer up. We do have car parking available on site which will be given on a first-come-first-serve basis, but we encourage car sharing in order to use the space as efficiently as possible.
There will be shuttle bus services from the festival running to both Oxford and Cheltenham each evening. The buses will run from 22:30 pm, departing at 30 minute intervals, until 1 am. The service will be available on a first come, first served basis and will leave when the bus is full. The bus will cost £10 per adult, £5 per child and £25 for a family (cash only).
Driving to The Big Feastival is really easy from all parts of the UK. We have a limited number of parking spaces available which are allocated on a first come, first served basis. We recommend car sharing if you can.
With the average 100 mile car journey leading to over 20 kg of CO2 being produced, goCarShare has the potential to reduce the festival’s carbon footprint considerably. It’s a great way to save money if you are driving and, as it is built around Facebook, you can see if your friends are going, find like-minded people to travel with, and check people out before agreeing to share.
‘By travelling in a full car, festival-goers carbon emissions become comparable to taking the train…… so it can make a real difference.’ (Source: DEFRA Report). Click here to ‘car share’
