The Workshop

Come and get creative in The Workshop, where imaginations are set to run wild at this year’s Big Feastival.

The British Film Institute are ready to entertain budding movie-makers of all ages with ‘Crazy Inflatables Silent Movie Madness’! This year, the B.F.I. will show visitors just how easy it is to make silly silent movies. Armed with an array of mad inflatables, an amazing range of fancy dress costumes and moustaches galore – the team be will be inviting festival-goers to bring out their inner Charlie Chaplins and create their own short films.

For the daydreamers among us who love a good fairy-tale, The Royal Shakespeare Company will be celebrating their forthcoming winter family production, Wendy & Peter Pan, with interactive storytelling, arts and crafts. Become part of the Lost Boys adventure with their team of storytellers and magic yourself into one of Captain Hook’s Pirate Crew or one of Tink’s Fairies in dedicated craft sessions.

Super Cape-Abilities turns children around the globe into fully fledged Superheroes! To become a Superhero, little ones must first discover their unique powers. Children are invited to join in these fun and educational workshops, where they will receive special Superhero training and be encouraged to explore their range of Superhero skills and powers. As every Superhero needs a cape – Super Cape-Abilities will also present each trainee with their own blank canvas to decorate with their new-found superpower identities!

Wool & the Gang is one for all the family. Do the twist and make a funky festival bracelet with Wool and the Gang’s bright and bold yarns. No knit skills needed! The Gang will be on hand to share their purls of wisdom so be sure to drop by for some knitspiration or a spot of impromptu finger knitting.

Awesomely amazing new kids science magazine Whizz Pop Bang will be hosting three unmissable hands-on workshops to get children fired up about science. Kids will learn how to make ice cream in a bag in less than 5 minutes, how to transform a cabbage into a range of colours using everyday kitchen ingredients and how to make cornflour behave like both a liquid AND a solid!

Finally, the Far Out Workshops team will make a welcome return to the festival with arts sessions for all ages. Help create colourful woven teepees or have a go at making willow and paper mache lanterns to light the way back to your tent. The team will also be running screen printing workshops where visitors can try their hands at creating a design, cutting a stencil and printing their own posters. You can even bring an old t-shirt along with you and print onto that too!
