This series was Jamie’s chance to get back to doing what he loves: cooking at home with simple, accessible ingredients. Over the years, Jamie has been growing his own fruit and veggies with the help of his gardener Brian so this show is a celebration of no-nonsense beautiful seasonal food – a proper cooking show for modern-day people.
Jamie is so involved with growing things these days that it now seems strange that, having been a chef for 16 years, he didn't get round to it sooner. If he’d known how easy it was, he would have started ages ago. Jamie has always had a few pots of herbs and salad leaves on his window sill, but to have a whole load of beautiful things ready and waiting to be pulled out of the ground, or picked from a plant, just outside his kitchen door is heaven!
So Jamie At Home is all about getting down and dirty with nature, growing and cooking your very own produce – whether from your garden or window box. It’s easier than you might think and fantastically rewarding if you get it right. Both the TV show and book provide all Jamie’s hints and tips for planting, growing your home-grown ingredients and, of course, there are plenty of recipes to help you make the most of them!
