September Monthly ChallengesMon 01 Sep 2014
Story by Jamie Oliver Food Foundation (USA)
This month, we’re wishing our Food Revolution ambassador program a very, very happy 2nd birthday!
It’s hard to believe that we officially launched the Food Revolution Ambassador program 2 years ago this month. Since then we’ve grown to over 1,200 ambassadors across 97 countries. Thank you to all of our ambassadors for their amazing support and continued hard work to bring the Food Revolution in to their homes, local schools and communities around the world.
September Monthly Challenges
1). Celebrate! Wish yourselves and your fellow ambassadors a happy 2nd birthday and do some celebratory cooking. This month, Jamie’s launching his latest cookbook - Jamie’s Comfort Food which is inspired by everything from childhood memories to the changing of the seasons, and takes into account the guilty pleasures and sweet indulgences that everyone enjoys, including a Hummingbird Cake - an ultimate celebratory cake (stay tuned to see this added to jamieoliver.com later in the month)! We know it is a bit of an indulgent recipe** but we’re celebrating at Jamie HQ so check it out, join us in some celebratory cooking and share your creations with us online using #ComfortFood.
2). Speciality diets. Catering for special dietary needs doesn’t have to mean compromising on flavour. So whether it is vegetarian, dairy-free, gluten-free or vegan, we want to know your favourite speciality diet recipes. Be inspired by the speciality diets feature on jamieoliver.com and send and share your recipes and photos with us.
3). Back-to-school! It’s hard to believe that the holidays are over and school is starting again. We know that school meal regulations are different around the world, but we want to know what school breakfasts and lunches look like in your country! Send us your photos, whether of the lunch you send with your kids if they don’t have a school lunch programme, or the meal(s) they provided for them during the day. If you’re in the USA then find out all about the Smart Snacks rule which will improve snacks and beverages schools sell through vending school sores, fundraisers, and a la carte in the cafeteria. In the UK? Then find out all about the School Food Plan which see’s free school lunch for all infant pupils and food education being back on the menu in UK schools. See how Jamie’s foundation in the UK is supporting these big changes here.
What are Monthly Challenges?
Every month, there will be different challenges that inspire Food Revolutionaries to engage with their communities. They are designed to make deeper connections with the thought leaders in the real food industry and connect with family and friends through fresh food.
At the beginning of every month, the challenges will be announced. The idea is to complete as many challenges as you can. As you complete the challenges, let us know how they went. We want to hear your stories, see your pictures and be able to show your successes through our various social media platforms. So get out there, have fun and make sure you share your story with us – we could be highlighting what you’ve been doing to the world!
Do you have suggestions for next month’s challenges?
Let us know at email@example.com.
