Celebrating Our Love Of Good Food On Twitter

Story by The Food Revolution Team

As this week’s #FoodRevParty was on Valentines Day, we joined up with some of our revolutionaries on twitter to share some Food Revolution love!

Good food is one of the best ways to celebrate a special occasion and cooking from scratch for your loved ones is a great way to share your love. Plus, getting your family in the kitchen and sharing your food knowledge with them is one of the best gifts you can give them.
We wanted to know what our revolutionaries were cooking for your loved ones this Valentines and what their favourite foods are to cook and enjoy with their loved ones…

Q1. As its #ValentinesDay we thought we would share our love of good food! What's on your Valentines menu?

@Ciocia Braised baby bok choi, sweet potato bannock-topped hazelnut pie from #r2r and mango smoothie pop for dessert

@NutriJourney Baked Mackerel with bamboo shoots, pomegranate with a side of baby roasted potatoes and a mixed rice is on the menu for vday!

@LivingCB Valentine Menu: homemade chicken quesadillas - my teenaged son helped make them. Added black beans, cheese, cilantro

@jenifajade Valentine dinner was roast herb-crusted lamb with quinoa-stuffed tomatoes & lemon-garlic beans

@portionsizeme We started our day off having breakfast together...usually doesn't happen on a school day. Very nice.

Q2. All these menus sound amazing! Are these special treats for V'day? Or everyday cooking?

@Lanaprekprogram Definitely not every day, though we try to do a "fancy" meal once a week after kids go to bed. :)

@Cioca Totally everyday menu

@ChristysChomp Our "treats" were the home made sugar cookies baked last nite w/ the kiddos:) pic.twitter.com/Qfr7LNBj

@LivingCB Too much pressure on a week night to cook "BIG". Better just to be together, sharing the evening doing dishes too! #foodrevparty

Q3. Is it the everyday cook who cooks on Vday? Or do you get treated? Or perhaps you always share the cooking with others?

@Lanaprekprogram This year, I cooked... in the past we have shared the cooking.

@scatteredmom Yes, I cook. My guys aren't really into it. I don't mind, though.

Q4. Do you have any traditional foods you like to make & share with your loved ones on Vday? Or mix up the menu each year?

@Lanaprekprogram We don't always do the same menu for vday- but steak and scallops is always nice. Sort of a "go to" nice dinner

Q5. Do you have an all-time favorite meal to cook for your loved ones? Friends, family, kids, parents, partners... Or an all-time favourite ingredient?

@Lanaprekprogram All-time favorite dish = paella... can be done with a lot of things and looks so pretty!! (And isn't too hard!)

@LivingCB All-time favorite meal has got to be lasagne-feeds lots of hungry teenagers & their friends! Can't go wrong w/pasta

@ChristysChomp Yes! Homemade lasagne is always a winner. Have never bought a frozen one & proud to admit that!

@Cioca I’ll put fresh coriander on anything. Love roasting veggies too, using them as ingredients

We also asked our twitter party goers and our Facebook community members to share with us their valentines menu pictures on our Food Revolution Community page, check out these great Valentines treats here.

Thanks for everyone who joined in the Valentines fun on Twitter this week, we hope you all have a great day with your loved ones and celebrated with good food! Join next weeks #FoodRevParty with guest host @Health_Bean on Tuesday 21st February 7pm PST/10pm EST.
