Studies show that kids learn better and retain more when information is presented through fun and games. This is why we’re playing, dancing, tasting, and laughing our way to making balanced food choices at the Kids Food Festival, in partnership with Cooking Light, on March 2nd and 3rd at Citipond at Bryant Park!

The magic behind the Kids Food Festival, lies in the fact that kids are having so much fun that they don’t realize how educational the experience is. Sometimes, after a week of text-books and classrooms, the best way to get our little chefs engaged is through diverse activity! This is why we can’t wait for The Balanced Plate Scavenger Hunt at the Kids Food Festival (based on USDA ChooseMyPlate.gov guidelines) in which kids bounce from exhibitors to activities and sample family-friendly foods – while also learning about the importance of achieving balance in their food choices. In between visits to exhibitors, kids will enjoy musical acts, dancers, fitness instruction, puppets and so much more, each of them relaying messages about healthful eating in their special and fun way!

Among other great events this weekend, budding gourmands and eager eaters alike can attend hands-on classes in the James Beard Future Foodies Pavilion, where renowned chefs will share their skills and recipes and all will enjoy the fruits of their labor!

The Kids Food Festival founder, and Big Cheese of The Creative Kitchen, Cricket Azima, loves bringing daily cooking classes to Manhattan’s youth. The Kids Food Festival is an extension of this love: “During the festival we get to act on the principals of healthful and balanced eating we teach in the classrooms;” Cricket explains, “we get to highlight the companies and organizations that make healthful living more fun; kids get to play games, cook with renowned chefs, enjoy award winning entertainers, and everyone gets to sample family-friendly foods that really are delicious! The Kids Food Festival is so exciting for us because it deals with very serious issue of childhood obesity in a super fun way.”

We can’t wait to groove, snack, and celebrate this year at the Kid’s Food Festival, in partnership with Cooking Light and we hope you’ll join us at the table!

General admission to the event is free and tickets to the hands-on cooking classes in the James Beard Future Foodies Pavilion can be purchased on the event website! Visit us at www.kidsfoodfestival.com, on the Kids Food Festival facebook page, and on Twitter at @KidsFoodFestNYC!
