Tip & Tricks for baking with kids

Watch Jools and Buddy in action baking these delicious cookies – made with porridge oats, which are a high-fibre carbohydrate, they’ll keep you feeling fuller for longer.

One of the easiest ways to get kids excited about cooking is to bake some sweet treats together. My lot love making a basic sponge – it’s super easy to whip up, and a great recipe to help build their confidence in the kitchen.

My kids love making gingerbread biscuits – they can help with rolling, stamping and decorating. Mix up the shapes of the cutters you use and set out little bowls of edible decorations for them to choose from – they make great gifts, too.

It’s always good to have a few baking basics up your sleeve. Master the perfect buttercream for topping cupcakes or sponges, jazzing it up any way you like. If you want to go the extra mile, use a piping bag with a fancy nozzle.
