Re: Green Fig Preserve

Do you know why I like you Kye? Cause even when I dont ask you gimme amazing and especially simple ideas.
I clicked the link, passed on the preserve recipe but...saw the video below of the figs mascarpone. Wow dribble absolutely delighted. Since making desserts is not exactly my cup of tea this one will certainly make me gain some points.

Thanks Duckie!!! big_smile  wink

Re: Green Fig Preserve

Hey there

I was working in the kitchen at Fifteen this morning - I asked Mark the Chef for some answers (top lad - he ran the marathon with us in New York)

Mark says - "I would say get some nice soft figs, chop them up and add onion and spices, ones that go nicely with figs like cinnamon, star anise, couple of cloves, ginger as well. Then you can make a chutney."

Re: Green Fig Preserve

Danny say thanks to Mark please because I'll try that.  yummy

Beautiful BC figs aren't natural from Brazil, but fortunatly we still have lots of fresh figs here. Try to raise it yourself, I know it's difficult in Canada, with all that cold weather, but who knows. smile

Re: Green Fig Preserve

I might research growing them myself rferrari.  It may be the only way I'll have a chance to try one fresh!  You're right, you never know....worst case is it's not successful.

Re: Green Fig Preserve

Figs grow easily in South Africa and when they are ripe the birds also enjoy them.

The little brown figs are much nicer the the green skin figs.

Will definitely try the fig chutney this year. smile
