Introducing our new vegetarian & vegan menu
There’s something for everyone on our brand new vegetarian & vegan menu - plus Jamie's created a brand new special available for this week only.
Today is an extra special Meat-Free Monday as it’s also the first day of National Vegetarian Week in the UK! Veggie week runs from 14–20 May and is organised by the Vegetarian Society to encourage people to get excited about great vegetarian food. Jamie is passionate about how much good we can do for ourselves and the environment by cutting back the amount of meat we eat – so of course we wanted to support this brilliant initiative, too.
As we’ve got a new Jamie’s Italian menu coming next Wednesday, we thought we’d celebrate Vegetarian Week by giving you a sneak preview of a special part of it – our brand new vegetarian and vegan menu! It’s launching today, across the country, so come in to any of our restaurants and try it.
Italians love their fresh, seasonal vegetables – so we’ve always had some great vegetarian dishes on our menu that celebrate the best of British produce. For our new menu, we’ve kept the classics – our Veggie tagliatelle Bolognese with tomato, lentil and porcini ragù has been a favourite of Gennaro’s for a long time – and you can still find our delicious crispy polenta chips heaped with veggie Parmesan.
But we’ve also introduced some exciting new dishes like our Asparagus & ricotta tortellini – just perfect for this sunny weather – and our Sicilian-style cauliflower. A whole baby cauliflower is slow roasted with beautiful Sicilian spices for a caramelised nutty flavour, and served with a lentil ragù, pomegranate & pine nuts. Sicilian cooking borrows more from the flavours of north Africa than mainland Italy, and the fragrant spices and fruity pomegranate seeds work beautifully here with the crispy cauliflower.
And as if that's not enough, Jamie has also been busy in the kitchen creating a brand new dish that's available for this week only on our specials boards - Courgette & burrata bruschetta - grilled paysan bread topped with marinated courgette & creamy burrata - a must-have exciting dish that's packed with seasonal and fresh flavours.
