The Good Foundation is proud to announce the newest members to join the Ministry of Food team who will be based at the first Victorian Centre, Jamie’s Ministry of Food Geelong, located on Moorabool Street.
Jamie Oliver welcomed the soon to be opened Centre and new team, saying”I'm so excited that we will soon have our second fixed centre in Australia and our first in Victoria. We have an amazing new team on the ground that will pull the communities together and make sure it’s a fun and informative experience and that these important skills will be passed on for many years to come.”
The Jamie’s Ministry of Food Geelong team have been locally recruited and comprise of professionals from the surrounding Geelong area with varying food and community related experience including education roles, social work and food nutrition. The team consists of a Centre Manager, Lindy Mills plus four Food Trainers, Tregan Borg, Annalee Willis, Hamish Edmond and Jenifer Wackett - each has been appointed for their extensive food knowledge, educational experience and a shared belief and passion in inspiring, educating and empowering the community to make better food choices.
Centre Manager, Lindy Mills says, “I am really proud to be leading the team in the first Victorian Ministry of Food Centre, I know that by sharing our knowledge of food as a team, we will watch participants gain confidence in cooking which will contribute to a positive effect on the long term health of the people of Geelong.”
Jamie’s Ministry of Food Geelong will be launched later this year in an effort to help the community get back to basics in the kitchen. The new team will draw on expertise in basic cookery and good nutrition to teach participants how to prepare healthy food with fresh ingredients, ultimately working towards a healthier community.
“Jamie’s Ministry of Food is based on a local philosophy whereby it recruits local Food Trainers and volunteers who have local knowledge, it’s supported by local businesses and sources local produce from suppliers, all for the benefit of the local community,” says CEO of Jamie’s Ministry of Food Australia, Alicia Peardon.

Jamie’s Ministry of Food Geelong is part of the Prevention Community Model, a jointly funded initiative of the State Government of Victoria and the Australian Government, which will work with the community to tackle preventable diseases, obesity, chronic illness and promote healthier lifestyles.
