Jamie's New Specials: Steak Tagliata

For the next month, Jamie is bringing you some incredible new specials straight from the Jamie’s Italian test kitchen.

This Friday we’ve got a special to make your weekend – juicy bavette steak, perfectly cooked and sliced into strips, served with a deliciously nutty portobello mushroom and sweet cherry tomatoes that are roasted on the vine.

Watch Jamie cook it up here….

To make this dish we use our special grill plates – made just for us by Jamie’s mate Mick the Brick as we call him – to cook our higher-welfare steaks al mattone (under a brick) until they’re beautifully tender, just like the Italians do.

While the steak is cooking, the portobello mushrooms are grilled to bring out their natural earthy flavour and we roast our tomatoes on the vine to give them a hint of charcoal that contrasts nicely with their natural sweetness. Then everything’s plated up and drizzled with the meat’s rich juices, extra virgin olive oil and our own aged balsamic.

Last on the plate goes a handful of fresh green lemony rocket, scattered with shavings of Parmesan and a wedge of lemon, of course. Simple ingredients, flavours that pack a punch!
