2025 The Sun's School Chef Champion Nathan Scarlett, Henry Cavendish Primary School, London

Chef Nathan loves sharing his passion for food as much as he loves cooking – and because of that, he’s transformed the Henry Cavendish School’s food environment into something really exciting.
Together with his team, he’s dedicated to serving up healthy, delicious food from breakfast and lunch all the way through to after-school clubs, working with School Meal Ambassadors (children from each class) to help devise a delicious and culturally diverse menu. And it certainly seems to be working, because all 900 students and staff love it!

This is no mean feat considering tight budgets, time restraints and the difficulties of meeting the needs and preferences of so many children.
But he doesn’t stop there. Chef Nathan shares his love of food further by running workshops, hands-on assemblies and classroom cooking sessions, showing kids where their food comes from and how they can make it themselves. Nathan really goes the extra mile, taking his approach to food to a whole new level and using it as a way to inspire, and care for the children at the school.

From homemade breakfasts and healthy after-school club snacks to fresh coleslaw and vibrant veggie lunches, the food at Henry Cavendish School is as diverse and exciting as its community – and that’s down to Chef Nathan and his team, supported by the incredible Chefs In Schools movement.
Congrats, Chef Nathan!
