Good School Food Award winner cooks up a storm at Jamie Oliver HQ

Belsteads School student, Owen, holding a dish he's rustled up in Jamie's HQ kitchen, alongside his mentors Santos and George. The three of them have their arms around each other's shoulders, smiling at the camera.

We’ve had a brilliant new member of the team at Jamie Oliver HQ recently. The lovely Owen, a student from The Belsteads School, has been working in the kitchen alongside our fabulous chefs, George and Santos, helping to cook the staff lunch every day – and it’s been delicious!

Aspiring chef Owen was no doubt inspired by his school chef Joyce Tanoh-Mensah, aka Mama Joyce, who won our 2023 Community & Kindness Award. You can read all about her brilliant work.

Owen said of his experience: “My favourite recipe to cook was the Roast pumpkin & spinach curry. And I’m already planning to show Mama Joyce some of the other dishes when I get back to school, like Sweetcorn fritters and Slow-roast tomatoes, rocket & crème fraîche.”

We know you’re going to go far, Owen – best of luck and we hope you come back to see us soon!
