Early days

Jamie discovered his love of cooking at the tender age of eight, while helping at his parents' pub & restaurant, The Cricketers in Clavering, Essex. After leaving school he went to catering college, before heading to The Neal Street Restaurant where he was taken under the wing of Gennaro Contaldo and fell in love with Italian food. He then moved onto the iconic River Café, where he was famously spotted by a TV producer, and the Naked Chef was born.

Books & TV

During his 26-year career, Jamie has sold over 50 million books worldwide, and his TV series are watched by millions around the globe. He’s inspired generations to enjoy cooking fresh, delicious food from scratch, and has published 28 best-selling cookery books. His latest book, Eat Yourself Healthy, came out in September 2025. He’s now inspiring young people to love food and appreciate nature through his children’s books Billy & The Giant Adventure, and his Jamie's Little Food Library board books.

Social impact & campaigns

Jamie is on a mission to make the food system healthier, fairer and more sustainable for all. This starts with giving everyone the chance to learn to cook – adults and children alike – so through his Ministry Of Food programmes we reach communities and schools throughout the country. We celebrate the great work happening in the school food system with our Good School Food Awards. And in an effort to support kids who are neurodivergent, just like himself, Jamie is campaigning to update the school system, via Jamie’s Dyslexia Revolution.
