Best cookie recipes - chocolate chip

Warm, freshly baked cookies are a thing of joy – especially when teamed with a lovely cup of tea. Whether you fancy a classic chocolate chip, you’re more of a fruit and nut, or you want something completely different, we’ve got you covered with our best cookie recipes.

If you’re looking for a last-minute bake, rustling up a batch of cookies is always a good idea. They’re easy to make, require minimal oven time and use just a handful of store-cupboard ingredients (meaning they’re on the cheaper side, too). Plus, most cookie recipes are super-straightforward, so they’re great for getting the kids involved. From bake sales to birthdays, afternoon tea or ‘just because’, our cookie recipes are sure to hit the spot.

Simple, fruity and utterly satisfying, these rustic cookies couldn’t be easier to make. We’ve gone for raisins and mixed seeds here, but swap in whatever you already have – any dried fruit would be delicious. When it comes to nuts, think hazelnuts, almonds, pecans or walnuts.

Chocolate rye cookies

Rye bread makes a cracking cookie when combined with dark chocolate – trust us! When it comes to choosing chocolate, opt for a 70% cocoa content, it’ll make all the difference. Finish with a sprinkle of sea salt for a proper grown-up treat.

Everything cookies

The clue is in the name – these cookies are a great vehicle for using up any leftover nuts, dried fruit, chocolate, toffee or treats you have lying around. You could also add a pinch of mixed spice, cinnamon or ginger into the mix, if you like.
