A dinner for loved ones

February 3, 2025 • In Valentine's Day, Dinner Party

Jamie's Head of Food Styling, Ginny Rolfe, says: “Valentine’s Day isn’t just for the lovers – it’s for all loved ones! I like to celebrate Galentine’s Day with a delicious feast for my family and friends. And I have just the tips and tricks for you…”

TAKE IT EASY

Choose a starter and pudding that are either easy to assemble or that you can make ahead, so you only need to concentrate on the main course before your guests arrive. That takes the stress out of the occasion, so you can spend more time with your guests. And I love to serve up my feasts family-style using Jamie's Big Love serveware collection, so everyone can just tuck in at the table.

THE MENU: STARTER

Jamie’s new Big Love range is so beautiful, just some simply dressed ingredients can make a real statement. I’ve taken the Big Love Board and adorned it with delicious antipasti. By raising it on tins, it makes it easier for everyone around the table to share. This is one of Jamie’s favourite ways to serve his feasts, going as far back as his 30th birthday in Italy.

THE MENU: MAIN

I love to serve up my feasts family style, so putting a big bowl of prawn pasta in the middle of the table for everyone to tuck into is a real winner. I’ve gone for Jamie’s Tunisian prawn spaghetti. It looks so good in the Big Love Super Server bowl.

THE MENU: PUD

I had to go with a chocolate sensation – Jamie’s Simple chocolate tart. It looks so good displayed on the Showstopper Cake Stand. Then serve up with some sliced oranges and zesty creme fraiche in the Dishy Bowls.

THE DECOR

Flowers can be so expensive around Valentine’s, so I like to take foliage from the garden to decorate my table, then perhaps just use a couple of stems from the florist (not even a whole bunch). At this time of year, I like mimosa and perhaps some anemones to brighten up the table. Or you could decorate your table with whole ingredients – like pomegranates, lemons, garlic bulbs, or chillies – that are also nice little nods to the flavours in your feast.

LIGHT IT UP

I love a candle, but you don’t need candle holders to do this. Here I’ve popped tealights in some coloured tumblers – or I like to use clean jam jars.

MIX & MATCH

I always mix and match my tableware and cutlery for that relaxed vibe. Jamie’s Big Love range is great for that, because each piece has an organic shape in gorgeous pastel shades, and looks beautiful whatever you serve in it.

CHEESY MOMENTS!

Because some people don’t have a sweet tooth – I also love to use the Showstopper Stand as a cheese board too. Being elevated means it’s easier to share around. Just pop it in the middle of the table with a selection of biscuits and fruit for a delicious final flourish.
