Think of good gravy as the star of your Christmas dinner – make it in advance of the big day and freeze until needed. Job done! And if you're a gravy super-fan, you'll love Jamie's famous Get-ahead gravy.

Making bread sauce is a good way to use up chunks of stale bread, or use ready-to-bake ciabatta for an Italian twist. And if you’re looking for a gluten-free bread sauce recipe, we’ve got you covered, too.

If you’re after a crafty Christmas shortcut, this Cheat’s cranberry sauce recipe delivers big on flavour, with minimal effort. Why not rustle up a batch, decant into festively decorated jars and give to family and friends for the perfect edible gift.

A beautiful alternative to traditional gravy, using the secret weapons: port, onion marmalade and crumbly chestnuts for a real smack of flavour and texture.

Serve it alongside all kinds of curries or with cold ham, chicken or turkey. It’s fantastic in cheese toasties or leftover festive sandwiches, too.

Master perfectly silky hollandaise sauce and serve with a honey & clementine fizz for an extra-special festive brunch.

Super-tasty and flavoursome, this gravy is just as good as the real thing. Pimped with Marmite and blackcurrant jam, it’s beautifully balanced and incredibly moreish.

EASY 1-MINUTE SAUCES

Adding an injection of flavour doesn’t need to be complicated or time-consuming. Give these brilliantly simple 1-minute sauce recipes a try for an instant tasty kick:

FRESH MINT SAUCE: pick and very finely chop 1 bunch of fresh mint, place in a bowl with a pinch of sea salt and 2 teaspoons of caster sugar, then just cover with boiling water. Stir in 4 tablespoons of white wine vinegar and mix well.

HORSERADISH SAUCE: mix 2 tablespoons of natural yoghurt with 1 tablespoon of grated horseradish, season to taste with lemon juice, sea salt and black pepper, and finish with a splash of extra virgin olive oil.
