A British summer just wouldn’t be the same without a bowl of bright red strawberries. While you can get strawberries all year round, the imported varieties just don’t compare to British-grown, which are juicier, sweeter and packed with so much more flavour. Strawberries are grown in the UK between May and September, and are absolutely delicious served simply with cream.

There are lots of ways to enjoy strawberries. If you’re feeling fancy, whip up Jamie’s next-level version of that British classic, Eton mess; the kids will love cooling down with a refreshing strawberry smoothie ice lolly; or if you have some that are on the turn, a homemade jam will give you the taste of summer even in winter. But if you’re looking for a taste sensation, our Italian risotto with strawberry and balsamic will hit the spot.
