2nd hand cookbooks
I went to a second hand bookshop yesterday and got some great books. I got a second copy of the Australian Women's Weekly Cookbook (the classic from the 70's/80's) for $8; it's in better condition than my copy (from a garage sale). I also got the original children's birthday cakes book that we all grew up on here for $7. The modern reprints just aren't the same. Also got a herb book. I like old books.

Me too, some of the recipes in them just can't be beaten. I have a very old good housekeeping cookbook or something it is called from the fifties that my MIL gave me and it has the best biscuit recipes in it.
Fantastic stuff.

I have a number of secondhand cookery books that I have found at school fetes and village green fairs. Most are in great condition and I have used them often.

Re: 2nd hand cookbooks
Most of my cookbooks are second-hand - some "hand-me-downs", but mostly ones I have bought at book fairs or charity shops.
My wife calls it my "food porn" collection
- though she never complains about the results.

Re: 2nd hand cookbooks
i was almost tempted by another 2nd hand bookshop today but as I've not put this lot away yet (running out of space) I couldn't justify going in.

Re: 2nd hand cookbooks
wow i thought my wife and i were the only ones that did this.. we need to add more shelves in our kitchen to fit the ones we already have.
a few reprints of classic books..
I have quite a few from the sixties and seventies.
My wifes favourite is a shaker cookbook we picked up at an auction a few years ago..
the oldest and my favourite is one printed in 1915..
