mada, once you have chopped off the hard ends, 5-10 minutes until tender. Those slim green asparagus dont take long at all.
The asparagus we get is quite tender, even the thicker ones, it only needs a couple of minutes over steam.

Re: Whats For Supper?
thanks, I'm always tempted to buy a special pot for asparagi but then I think it's only used in spring and manage to cook them in the one I boil soup, the steaming tip is a good one

Re: Whats For Supper?
I ended up doing errands in the afternoon so no arancini but I made something else which was superfantabulus! Mirin marinated chicken thighs, boneless, skinless, threaded on metal skewers and BBQ... zucchini and mushroom w/garlic grilled and flash fried sugar snap pea's with sesame seeds and garlic all over a bed of greens and a wasabi/mayo dressing. Who needs rice? It was that filling ![]()

Greek braised octopus in red wine, with onion, garlic, thyme & tomato. Once it has braised until tender, reduce until quite thick, finish with buckets of EVOO & taste for seasoning..
...serve with crusty bread & vegeables or salad. We had spinach, asparagus & broccoli.

If you have any starch and meat for leftovers you can make it new again with dandelions right from your yard. Just don't use any that you have tried to eradicate with pesticides. Apparently they have many health benefits and are a super food. I write more about this on my blog
