Re: Whats For Supper?

I went to the farmers' market this morning so dinner was a slightly odd combination of Italian and cajun.

First up was fried courgette (zucchini) flowers with just a little salt and pepper.

Re: Whats For Supper?

Followed by crawfish and shrimp etoufee.

Crawfish are unusual to find here in the UK as they are considered vermin, as they're destroying and eating our own crayfish, so i was happy to pick these up.

Wish I'd managed to get them last month for the July challenge!

Re: Whats For Supper?

Thanks cohphanta I was hoping you would approve! Especially with your Louisiana background.

I know there's lots of versions but I went with a roux and added tomatoes, I made sure to get the roux nice and dark! But I know that to some people using a roux or tomatoes is a no-no, at least I didn't use condensed soup like some.

Re: Whats For Supper?

I love cajun cooking too, although I'm no expert at it. My wife always makes fun of me when I talk about roux and its importance.

Maybe we should start a support group!
