Freezing water chestnuts

Simply, can I?  I have a huge can of water chestnuts in water, far too many to use in one recipe, and freezing (in the water?) seems like the obvious way to preserve the rest.  Any advice?

Re: Freezing water chestnuts

Thank you, Tanya.  I like the idea of freezing them sliced and adding them to a dish frozen as required.

Re: Freezing water chestnuts

Well, Claude, that's erm... comprehensive!  I have never used them fresh, only from a can, but next time I'm near one of England's many Chinatowns I will try to find some fresh ones to play with.  Thanks.
